Hartwick retiring as Executive Director

The Fort Atkinson Community Foundation (FACF) has announced the upcoming retirement of their Executive Director Sue Hartwick.  Hartwick will be retiring from her post on December 31, 2024,

Sue Hartwick

and the search for her replacement is now underway.

When Hartwick took over the Foundation’s reins from Helen Rose in 2012, the Foundation held 62 funds with assets totaling just under $20 million.  Building on the position established by Rose, under Hartwick’s 12-year leadership, the Foundation has grown to include 87 funds with assets doubling in size to just under $40 million, all while investing $12 million into the Fort Atkinson community through grants and scholarships.

“Sue has been a tremendous asset to the foundation,” stated FACF Chairman Sally Koehler.  “Her strong connections in the community have helped the foundation navigate needs and actively seek out opportunities.  Sue has been a strong team player and has been a wonderful advocate for the foundation.  She has been a good steward of our resources while continuing to grow our assets.  We wish Sue our sincere congratulations on her retirement. It has truly been a pleasure working with her!”

For over 50 years, the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation has worked with generous donors to pool charitable resources to make a difference in the Fort Atkinson community. Since 1973, the Foundation has distributed over $24.3 million in grants and scholarships, enhancing the community’s quality of life, fostering success for local nonprofit organizations, and investing in the community’s young people.  Run by a volunteer five-member Board of Directors, the foundation continues to benefit from the forward-thinking generosity of the community it serves.

“I have been so lucky to have a job that truly makes a difference in a community I love,” stated Hartwick.  “I love coming to work every day to hear about new projects being proposed, to meet community members who have a passion for something, and to learn new ideas about making Fort Atkinson better.  It’s been a dream job.”

Anyone interested in applying for the Executive Director position is encouraged to review the full job posting on the community foundation’s website, www.fortfoundation.org.
