The Community Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of the Don Gruber Athletic Acorn Fund to the Foundation’s portfolio. The fund opened with just over $8,000 in memorial gifts (thank you to everyone who remembered Don in this way) and additional donations are now being accepted to get the fund over the $20,000 threshold that will allow us to convert it into a forever Don Gruber Athletic Scholarship Fund and start making scholarship awards to athletes from Fort Atkinson High School.
It was in 2014 that the Community Foundation first began offering Acorn Funds as a simple and flexible way to build an endowment fund. An Acorn Fund can be opened with just $1,500 and the fund has up to five years to receive enough gifts to grow to meet the required threshold to turn it into a mature endowed fund ($20,000 for scholarship funds; $15,000 for all other fund types). While an Acorn Fund is growing, no fees are charged for administrative services and all income from investment is added to the fund to facilitate its growth as we cheer it on.
Don’s is our fourth Acorn Fund – the previous three all succeeded in growing into mature, endowed funds and we expect similar success will bless this one.

Be sure to indicate it is for the Gruber Acorn Fund. We can also accept credit card donations on our secure website, www.fortfoundation.org. Just look for the donate button and follow the prompts.
