Harrison Scholarship awarded to Congdon

The Directors of the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation have awarded a $2,000 Eileen Harrison Education Scholarship to Devin Congdon.

A 2010 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, Congdon earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2014. For two years following graduation, she worked in management positions in the fitness industry. However, missing the chance to work with younger children, Congdon made the decision to go back to school to earn her teaching license.

She is now enrolled in the middle childhood/early adolescence licensure program at UW-Whitewater with an expected completion date of May 2018. While taking classes at UW-Whitewater, she is also working as an ELL aide at Luther Elementary School in Fort Atkinson.

The Eileen Harrison Education Scholarship Fund was a gift to the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation by Martin Harrison to honor his wife, Eileen, who was a kindergarten teacher in the Fort Atkinson School District for 28 years. The earnings of this fund support a scholarship awarded annually to residents of the Fort Atkinson area, employees of the Fort Atkinson School District or graduates of Fort Atkinson High School who are currently pursuing a degree in the field of education at a college or university.

The Harrisons are especially interested in providing financial assistance and encouragement to educators who are committee to classroom teaching.
